Kyleakin and passage to Loch Nevis

Kyleakin did us well.  The skipper got his dhoby done and took it with him to dinner:
 
 

We explored the Viking castle of princess 'Saucy Mary'.  She ad picked a good spot, giving a commanding view of the Kyle:
 
 


We sailed on 24th, taking advantage of the first of the ebb tide through the Kyle Rhea:
 
 


The micro ferry still runs across this small channel, despite the presence of the bridge some 5 miles north (but more like 20 by road):
 
 


Entering the Sound of Sleat (well named, given the continuing cold conditions), we elected to go 'off piste' for the night and made our way to the very head of Loch Nevis.  this entailed transiting a very narrow and shallow stretch , which had the skipper in needle navigation mode for some 20 minutes.  Once safely through, we found a spot tucked up close in, but still in 18m of water - the last links in the cable locker duely got an airing.
