Wednesday 11 June. The bright morning was passed by revelling in the St Martin de Re marché, where we bought crevette rose and tuna steaks for the day’s fare; enjoying the vista from the top of the church tower (Pippa, it seems you have been here – see phots!); browsing the quaint stores and boulangerie (phot); and watching the world go by while enjoying a coffee in a waterfront café. It’s tough here!

The flood tide enabled us to depart the lock at 1330, and we enjoyed a fetch courtesy of a N2-3 in sparkling sunshine to pass once more under that bridge, before easing sheets towards Isle d’Oleron. Crevette rose, mayonnaise, bread and Camambert made for a perfect late lunch (phot) on a smooth sea under a clear sky. Then just enough time to enjoy a coffee and 30 minutes crew relaxation before it was time to stow sails and ease our way once more into St-Denis-d’Oleron – we are getting familiar with these waters now!

A relaxing evening in the cockpit, enjoying the tranquillity while we dined like royalty, rounded off a perfect day. Tomorrow night might be spent at anchor, so associated blog likely to be delayed by some 24 hours.
