A good night was had by all yesterday; Sebastian awoke early still on UK time and made use of the superb facilities at the club and Daddy did some wifi before breakfast.

After breakfast the crew had a safety briefing from the skipper. Lifejackets were fitted and equipped with safety torches and we discussed Man Overboard drills and how to use flares and the liferaft etc - here's hoping it's money spent on equipment we don't need to use!

Richard very kindly brought our dried washing back for us and then Daddy, Mummy and Pippa set off with a very helpful taxi driver to a West Marine store to buy some seaboots for Thomas/Sebastian/Pippa - nothing worse than having cold, wet feet in the middle of the night. Our next stop was to do another food shop so Aquila is now loaded up with fresh produce for Bermuda.

A light lunch was had before Daddy, Sebastian and Pippa did some deck scrubbing. While in Deale the dirt in the rain gets worked into the teake and makes it look dull and grey - after a load of Fairy Liquid, a lot of elbow grease (and unwarranted drenchings from Sebastian with the hose!) we got them looking much better.

Our next phase was to rinse a load of warps that weren't drying properly because they were covered in salt water so we made use of the freshwater hose to do that, then we had a look at whether we could clean the hull. After experimenting with white vinegar (not successful!) we used some 'stuff' that Daddy had - did a brilliant job though the starboard side needs a bit more attention as we can't reach it easily; maybe a job for Bermuda.

The weather's pretty rotten at the moment - windy and raining but hopefully it will pass by tomorrow and it will be full steam ahead...

The crew hard at work...
