We're having a terribly frustrating time on board
at the moment. After the sea settled from the fronts of yesterday the wind
disappeared completely and we were left becalmed. It wasn't until mid-afternoon
that we had any sort of breeze to speak of; a highlight had to be Sebastian's
spot of a whale off the port beam. Not sure what type of whale it was (as we
forgot to bring our 'Ocean Life' book with us) but it was exciting
nontheless.
Mother cooked a delicious meal and first watch
of the night was lovely - 5 knots through the water, moon and stars out. Weather
collapsed for the middle watch and brought a spell of rain with it then in the
early hours of the morning the wind died for good. Have started engine to charge
batteries but terribly frustrating slopping around without being able to
sail.
Seems we're going through every kind of weather
system imaginable but morale remains high and the crew is all well.
