Wednesday 25 June. What a fabulous day! Nick and Judy Coggins, and Nick Evans and Judy joined us as planned for a day sail and lunch at anchor. All the planets aligned to give us one of the most memorable days afloat we’ve had.

Bright sunshine and a perfect NW 1-2 in the forenoon increasing to F3-4 in the afternoon gave us sparkling sailing conditions. We headed back to our last anchorage in these parts, off the entrance to Le Payré River (=creek). En route, ‘Serendipity’ motored up to us as we ghosted under asymmetric alone; we soon shamed them into putting their sails up, and a photex was duly undertaken (phot). We then parted ways, and in due course anchored for a lunch of oysters, crevettes and gooey cheeses washed down with France’s finest (we wish!). Phots say it all….

The 12m beat back to Les Sables was sailing at its finest (photos) – warm breeze, bright sunshine, sparkling water and fabulous company – we all agreed it did not get any better than that! Back in Les Sables, after a tricky berthing (only aided by the willing action of the enlarged crew), we rounded off the day with a superb meal ashore most kindly underwritten by Nick E – our heartfelt thanks Nick, you really are too kind. Back on board for a nightcap sampling the nectar so kindly donated by Bill and Jill earlier in the month, there was much debate as to which tasted ‘bigger in the mouth’….

So ended a perfect day – thank you so much to all onboard for making it such fun. We plan to depart towards the north on 27th – next blog thereafter.
