Aquila has arrived safe and sound in Hanko, Finland. But were we happy to get in!  In hindsight, skipper should have decided to spend another 36 hour's in Swedish waters, and Sandhamn was beckoning as we sailed by. Once outside sheltered waters, the wind headed us from that forecast, meaning we could not lay our 070 course.  With 2 reefs in and 6 rolls in the genoa, we crashed along, but the motion was not what had voted for. A pow wow regarding options was held, and we decided to press on, as the wind was forecast to back and moderate. It did the former for a while, but not the latter. Casualties over the trip include: skipper becoming very familiar with Billy the Bucket, George throwing the towel in, a blow-back from the heads holding tank, Pipps reduced to deckhead inspection throughout, guard rail washed away.  You get the picture.
But cruising is contrasts. Now we are as snug as bugs in rugs: sheltered, showered, supped, and snoozing big style.  Tomorrow: we explore the Finnish leads.
