The fishing harbour at Kallin, Grimsay, was a pleasant surprise (notwithstanding the 'sporting' approach): ![]() It seems the boat owners also run the shellfish processing factory as a cooperative: ![]() Note, above, the land reclamation on which the facility is built. Turns out it is all built on millions of discarded scallop shells: ![]() Clearly the scallop boat owners are doing ok. We saw this pickup truck loaded with over a ton each evening by each boat, and there's a brand new Jag and something similar in his drive: ![]() The scallops, prawns, velvet crabs that we saw landed apparently go mostly to France and Spain..... |
