The plan for the day was to explore the northern end of Isle d’Oleron by bicycle, but by the time we reached the hire shop it was ‘ferme’ for lunch. So we reverted to Plan B, and enjoyed a 10km walk in lovely sunshine and perfect temperatures that included the lighthouse and its gardens (phot) on the northern corner of the island, crew phot at top of the lighthouse, the rocky coast complete with pre-historic fish traps, and an interregnum for beer and crepes. Zzzzs were heard emanating from some crew members after tea once back on board, recharging batteries prior to a simple meal ashore. Thereafter, everyone seemed too tired for even one round of Liar dice….
Tomorrow, St Martin de Re beckons.
