A noon-noon run of 129.1 miles. Not bad. Over
1100 miles covered now since departing Deale in the Chesapeake.
George is doing sterling work. Watch on stop
on, he never complains, does not eat food, consumes none of our precious fresh
water, and, most importantly of all, he's a mean hand at the wheel. The
only things he needs is the course to steer and what Gilbert is producing at a
reliable and steady rate. Gilbert is of the same mould at George; he
quietly gets on with his duty without a murmur, generating valuable amps for all
the systems onboard. Right now, with AQUILA doing a steady 7kts, he
is providing some 4 ah above the base load of about 7 ah (3 for the fridge and 4
for the computer, when it is on). So that makes an output of about 11ah -
and there is only about 6kts wind over the deck. Brilliant!

 The Azores High is doing what it should at this
time of year, and producing a steady SSW4. With bright sunshine by day and clear
skies at night, it does'nt get much better. The 3 watches are working
well, and there have been some marvellous meals from the galley. Trouble
is the head chef says she only has about another 3 days of fresh remaining, then
it will be time to get stuck in to those tins......
 Ian stole the show yesterday evening by appearing
in these. The label on them even claims they are
waterproof............!
