Yesterday was a sad day as we said goodbye to Pips.  What a great crew, as ever.  All 3 of us rowed ashore in the dingy, and once landed changed into our walking gear for the 3.5 mile hike to the airport - who needs a taxi?  It was a marvellous 1.5 hr walk, most of it over open grass land in bright sunshine, with numerous skylarks, lapwings and oyster catchers nesting:

Pippa's plane landed early, turned around quickly and she was away ahead of time:

Aquila and her remaining crew were really sorry to see her go, but perhaps she can join again for another few days before her surgical training starts on 8 August.
Once her aircraft had taken off, Stuart and the skipper retraced their steps, diverting along deserted white beaches:

Sorry about the motor tyre - should have gone back to remove it!
We came across this memorial to a doctor who had served on the island for 51 years before his death in 1911; that's today's GP practice and dwelling in the background:

A lovely way of life I'd say, if that's what you are after.
Back on board in time for tea, and two big events:  Stuart managed to get the GPS to interface with my charts on the replacement computer, and, wonderful news, Granny is now back at the Old Vic - and already hobnobbing with her oppos with a glass of sherry in hand.  So hopefully she is back on her normal even keel - fingers crossed.

With a NW 6 forecast tomorrow we are staying at our anchorage in Gott Bay, Tiree, with the intention of sailing the 40 odd miles to Barra on Wednesday.  Hopefully Sarah will be able to join us there in the next few days or so.  In the meantime, can friends and family all start whatever ritual floats your boats to bring some warm summer weather up here?  Need it for Sarah and forthcoming family friends joining us.....
