Hi ya'all,
My sincere apologies for failing to update AQUILA's blog for over a week.  Bottom line is, have been desparately busy: excellent BBQ at Andrew Gordon's (many thanks, Andrew); collecting Sarah from Dulles (she did not recognise me 'because I was holding some flowers'!!); getting some legal documents endorsed at the Embassy (thank you Pat); sorting last minute glitches/alterations on the boat, with several trips to Annapolis; having a drinks party on board - thank you to all who came, and a special thanks to Andrew and Glenda for the Laphroaig!; a 3 day trip to Charleston SC for some R&R - hugely recommended; dinner at Old Ebbets Grill downtown DC - thank you Lisa for organising such a great get together; a day's sailing with Mike and Rachael and their 4 lively youngsters - what company!; a dinner and company to die for aboard the luxury of 'Lifesong' with Pete and Shelley - and an unsheduled overnight when the shoreside power cut marooned us the wrong side of some electric gates - thank you Pete and Shelley, we look forward to meeting as sea some day; further trips to Annapolis for last minute essentials; enjoying a hilarious afternoon and evening on board with Michael and Anke, who also brought all the goodies we consumed - a thousand thanks; a day up the mast checking every inch of the rigging and securing the Echomax radar reflector; a full day selling the car and satisfying the State Department paper chase - Amanda and Pat, it would have been impossible without you - my undying thanks; borrowing a car from Cat and David so that we still have wheels for the final few days - Cat, as ever, you are an angel; getting the computer sorted by Paul (for those who do not know hem, the Embassy's answer to Geek squad, but 100 times better) - Paul, where would I have been without you over the past 2 years?; a fabulous and very relaxed dinner with Ken and Bryn - a thousand thanks, and indeed for all you have done during our time in the US;...........you get the idea!

2 days to go before Pippa arrives, and the forecast is looking good for Monday.............
