We leave our lake about  08:30 and are immediately hit with a North Easterly Force 7 Gusting  Force 8 Squall complete with driving rain.  Not at all like the holiday brochures. After 45 minutes or so of rock and roll most of it blows through and we have the wind and sea behind us. We cruise down the East Coast of Alonnisos admiring the many beautiful bays if only it were a good day for a swim. We stop in the main town of  Patitiri for internet and supplies.  We then go around the bottom of the island to anchor in a bay under the town where Mamma Mia was shot.  Fortunately Piers Brosnam in not there to serenade us.

The anchoring turns out to be a bit of an ordeal as there is a lot of sea weed and anchors don’t hold well in seaweed.  We are third time lucky ,the anchor bites and we  put a stern line ashore.  The sun even comes out.  Vagelis chats with a local fisherman who points out that there will be a lot of swell in the little bay later as well as a possibility of Southern wind. So its up anchor again and we’re off to find a better spot.

We do indeed find a better spot near a couple of disused fishing boat across on the island of Peristeri.  The water is crystal clear and the weather improves, and apart from an older couple with their grandchild we have it to ourselves.
