Just as we decided to up anchor and move to Telephone Bay for the night, another yacht appeared along with a cruise ship.

The new anchor controller developed the same fault as the old one so Steve had to again swap the up and down motor leads so we can retrieve the anchor under power and let it free fall when we drop it.  Motoring across Port Foster the water was like glass.  Absolutely no wind.   The Barometer has dropped even further to 985 milibars. We are sitting in the eye of a low while motoring across the middle of an active volcano.  Nice.

The Argentine research station rings  up on the VHF, welcomes us and offers any help we might need.  We almost asked for an invitation to dinner.

We go to Telephone Bay and make our first attempt at Antarctic style mooring, 4 long lines and an anchor.  It takes a while and we’ll do it better next time.  So here are a few more snaps.
