Broken Cloud, lots of stars, no moon.  The sea is a little sloppy. It hasn’t really rained on us since the shower on the custom’s dock yesterday.   The wind varies from WSW to  SSW and is warmer than it was during the day. It’s now a balmy 13 degrees C in the cockpit.  This wind direction is keeping our course in a slightly more Easterly direction than I would have liked. It will be interesting to read Anthony’s synopsis tomorrow. We are maintaining reasonable speed.

04:45

A Cheshire Cat New  moon appeared on the horizon and stayed for a while rising and vanishing in the the clouds.....only to look down  from higher up an hour later.

10:30

The sun continues. And the wind is a steady SW Force 5. Very pleasant sailing.

We’re about 480 miles West of the International Date Line when we will be half a day behind London instead of half a day ahead. Very confusing.

The new computer doesn’t eat much but is slower and the graphics card more basic so pictures don’t look so good.  Still it’s less generator time. Max Sea (the navigation program) has decided NOT to display our track, however the new Raymarine displays do have that option and it seems to work.  This new system is brain  damage as it is completely different from the one we’ve been using for the last  4 ½ years.

12:00

Our first days run was  190  miles.  It was a 25 1/4 hour day and included 3 hours 10 minutes of motoring.

Auckland is obviously a rain magnet as we’ve been completely dry since leaving.

Raivavae is 1920 miles further as the crow flies.  It remains to be seen how much of a  crow SPINDRIFT is.
