15:30

We were just visited by 5 dolphins who frolicked with our bow wave for ten minutes, until one leapt out of the water and made a noise and they all speed off in the opposite direction.  Adam is convinced he was saying good by.

18:00

We had another dolphin visit but this time it was shorter.  We just passed a pod of about 8 pilot whales a 100 meters from the boat.  We could only see them for a few seconds. Still motoring. Still very little wind, but at least it’s sunny and the sea is flat.

20:30

We’ve been in deep water for a couple of hours now.  By deep I mean over 2000 metres.  John prepared an excellent Thai chicken curry complete with lemon grass.

The promised wind is yet to materialize but I still have hope.

12:00

Cool crisp clear evening. Half moon. No traffic. Still motor sailing.  We picked up a bit of current the last few hours and are making 9 knots at the moment.

06:30

We started sailing at 3:30 this morning.  The wind is SSW at around 16 knots and we are making 8-9 knots.  The Apparent wind is just forward of the beam, the sea is still flat , the sky is clear.  This must be what it’s all about.  Let’s hope it lasts for a while!

Oh and no more dodging fishing nets and warships.  We have the ocean to ourselves at the moment.

14:00

It looks like we’ll have this weather for at least another 24 hours.  Very idyllic sailing.

Plenty of  reading, scrabble, Sunday Cross word. Double Acrostic etc etc. And a nice hot cup of soup as its a bit brisk outside.  Yesterdays 24 hour run was 196 miles, almost half of which was under sail.
