29/7/09 21:00

We left at 17:00. The ESE wind is a healthy 25 knots behind the beam and we are flying. Dinner was a lasagne prepared before we left by Demetra under instruction from Demetri.  This was a first.

Making lasagne afloat has been a speciality of Demetri’s for some years.  This one didn’t suffer the example of a previous one when the boat lurched as Demetri was being removing it from the oven and it landed on the galley floor.  We ate it anyway.

We’re still flying but sleep is impossible.
I “rested” for several hours but didn’t manage to actually to nod off.

12:00

Still no good for sleeping. Some of us are a bit grumpy. The wind has held at 25 knots but has gone East so we’re poled out in order to make our course, but of course poling out makes the rolling worse.   Maybe they’ll be a mutiny.

The Scrabble grudge match has just begun.

Since leaving yesterday we have done 153 miles averaging just over 8 knots.
