While I was in Suva the others rented a small 4 wheel drive and had a couple of outings.  On Saturday we drove a few hours down an incredibly rough road to a resort for lunch and then on to a village of under 200 people on the sea.  We took Kava for the chief which he was very pleased to receive, and gave us a welcoming ceremony, but wasn’t in the mood to drink the kava which was fine from our point of view.  They grow their own kava and I think he will use ours to give to others when he goes visiting.  Maybe it will wind up back in the market….

Yesterday we took the boat to a place called “Split Rock” for a snorkel which was very pleasant. Even though it was only a couple of miles away we had to check out with customs and will have to check in again this morning.

Thje last shot is the photos attached is courtesy of Steve.

I leave for the the two hour bumpy road to the Lambasa airport at 13:00 and fly out of Nadi at 22:00 for NY via LA.  I will return to the Fiji on October 1st and shortly after the blog will start up again.
