In the end I didn’t ring the Rarotonga Harbour Master as I’ve realized that the weather there is going to stay difficult for the next week at least and even if we did manage to get into the harbour we would probably be boat bound because of the lousy weather.

We arrived back in Bora Bora Wednesday at a very dark  10PM.  The owner of the Yacht Club spotted  a boat  coming through the pass and came out in his launch to guide us to a mooring which made things very easy.  He took over this place last summer and is certainly going to do very well. He’s put down a couple of dozen moorings and his restaurant is excellent.  The only down side is that he likes live music –he plays the drums—which makes dinner conversation a bit of a challenge.

We plan to leave for Palmerston on Saturday by which time the worst of the current weather system will have blown through.  Being North of Rarotonga means we’re on the edge of the  system and the ride to Palmerston should be pleasant if not sunny. The next stop will be Niue for a couple of days before heading for Tonga. Although it didn’t rain today the cloud cover is 100 percent, so no sunset.
