We left at 22:00. The wind is a gentle East Force 5 and
we’re poled out again, making about 6 knots towards Apia Western
Samoa.
When Demetri gets up for his watch
at 3 we’ll run the water maker for three hours. We nearly ran out on Saturday
and ferried a couple of hundred litres in jerricans from the gas station by the
dinghy dock and thereafter picked up 30 litres every time we went ashore. Running the water maker in the harbour
was not an option.
08:00
The wind dropped and so did the boat speed. We’ve been doing 4 ½ knots all night,
rolling unpleasantly. It’s very hot
and sticky. We’ll sleep tonight in
harbour.
A very large flying fish crashed in the rigging
and we thought at first something had broken. He managed to flap his way back into the
sea leaving a trail of scales on deck. We still have 25 miles to
go.
15:00
We arrived at 13:00 and were
ushered into a new and small marina. Various port officials visited us on board;
customs, immigration, agriculture and after two hours we are still waiting for
the health officer. We travelled 82 miles averaging only 5.4 knots. More
Tomorrow.
