16/07/09 Thursday

We went for a few dives one of which included a wrecked  boat and a small plane. The visibility was a bit murky which added to the mystery and eeriness.  The pictures are on Demetri’s PC which has decided not to recognize the password he has always used and has locked him out.

Demetra and Ellen arrived Saturday Evening having shared the London/LA flight with Jay Leno and the Beckhams.  Apparently Victoria is not  worth looking at too closely.  We escaped from Papeete on Bastille day and have returned to Moorea.  Yesterday Demetri, Ellen and Steve cycled around the island on some ropey,  hired, gearless bikes.  They were told it was 62 Kilometers, we’re not sure but it did take quite a few hours.  Ellen thought it was easy, the men wouldn’t quite agree.

I watched Demetri typing in his password and noticed he was short one letter.  It turns out some of the keyboard keys aren’t working and when he tried the  wireless keyboard he brought for the boat  which I am unable to use, he was able to log on.

One of the maintenance jobs done in New Zealand was the renewal of all the toilet pipes.  Steve has subsequently had to work on two of the four heads and yesterday  we discovered a leak in my toilet and Steve had to spend several hours stripping it out, cleaning it and fitting new seals. Ahh the joys of marine sanitation.

Demetra and I circumnavigated the island by car and were very impressed with the efforts of the cyclists.

Last night we went to Tiki Village where a group of locals live in a traditional manner and put on a song and dance spectacle which was truly beautiful.

We’re a bit behind in the processing photos department but  I enclose a couple of final sunsets from Tahiti and a mountain view from Moorea;

Tonight we will leave to do the 85 mile crossing to Huahine.
