We came back to
Papeete, tried
unsuccessfully to get some fridge parts, but did a lot of provisioning. The DC generator which is the main
charging device has split its water exhaust hose and the way it has been
installed it is physically impossible to get to the hose to try to repair
it. The generator will have to be
removed after first removing the cockpit floor, so it looks like we will have to
live without this unit until New Zealand,
fortunately there is a second generator which should keep us going. We’ve been
in Papeete much longer
than planned due to Demetra’s arrival being 24 hours late and the Holiday
Weekend, but we will escape its warm furry grip
tonight.
A very bizarre very modern 100 metre yacht called
Falcon turned up. The three masts
rotate 360 degrees and each contains 10 in-mast furling sails. Hardly
anything to go wrong.
