We’ve had a very pleasant sail slipping along at 6-7 knots all night. On the watch change at 3AM Graham and I set the pole.  He looked at the radar with concern that he couldn’t see the sailing ship off our Starboard Bow on the screen.  It looked like a red sail which was being backlit and was in fact a sliver of a red new moon on the horizon  To be fair he was a bit sleepy.

The microsoft key board on the boat PC is playing up and driving me mad.

I’ve managed to get the FleetBroad Band system to log on to a satellite and it is possible to make a telephone call but the data side of things is still not working.  An “expert” in Charleston was supposed to come to check it out but he never showed.

I didn’t manage an entry yesterday as I was battling with  electronic gremlins and keyboards and got really fed up.

 I finally discovered there is an IP address conflict between the wi-fi antenna (YachtSpot) and the satellite system (Fleet Broad Band 250).  So you can have one or the other but not both.  In order to change you have to power down everything, start up the terminal you want to use, power up the  network router and then power up the PC.  In that order. For some weird  reason, the wireless keyboard also seems more stable when this procedure is followed, however I’m going to buy a wired USB keyboard... just in case.

We arrived early afternoon on Saturday.  Wrightsville Beach is just what it says, miles and miles of flat beach.  In fact everything’s flat around here. There are also miles and miles of holidays homes with hundreds of moorings., mostly for sports fishing boats. I think the Wright Brothers  first air flight took place farther North.

We had a  walk around yesterday and an excellent sea food meal last night.  We’ve hired a car and will visit Wilmington (North Carolina) today.
