We had a barbeque at Carolyn’s house Friday night with her partner Jim and
neighbours from both sides of the house. 84 year old Myrna brought her
own booze and popcorn. She’s definitely an original. She fancies herself
as a tap dancer and can be seen in action on the following u-tube clip
spoofing Young Frankenstein scene spoofing Fred Astaire:

Saturday we went to a local arts fair which was pretty naff apart from one
or two decent artists. We had sundowners at Carolyn’s and Jims. The
produced a spud gun, see: www.spudgun.com and took great delight in
hurling various vegetables in the general direction of a neighbour none of
them liked much. The propellent is a 4 second squirt of a highly
inflammable hair spray, which is then ignited by a gas stove spark.

The extraordinary thing about their house is that 7 years ago it was the
victim of Isabella a storm which flooded and bashed in their ground
floor. It then took them two years to organize the lifting of the house
a whole floor. The lower floor now has break away walls in the event of
future storms. It is supported by many piles. I will attach some
pictures of the before and after. The White house in the photo album shot
is their house before the damage and the lifting.

Today I spent some time in the Virginia Air and Space Center which holds
an amazing collection of airplanes and rockets and even the Apollo 12
Command Module. This afternoon we had a delightful motor boat drive
around the nearby rivers and creeks. We have been truly wined , dined
and generally regaled by our friends and the Hampton Yacht Club members.

I had a disastrous computer day today. I was trying to find a contact for
some one and thought the only way to do it was through face book,
something I have avoided until now. When I signed up, it rippled through
my computer and reset the date to 2002 and destroyed my wi/fi connection.
I can no longer log on to the wireless router. This is the same problem
Ellen had with our router in Greece. After messing with it for a long
time I found an old fashioned Ethernet cable and plugged in, so the Mac is
now back on line, but I’m not very pleased with face book.

Tomorrow we will head about 60 miles up the bay to a place called

Reedsville. The plan is to slowly make our way to Annapolis and meet

Robby there on Thursday.

I will attach some pictures. It is always a problem getting them in the
right order.
