The afternoon brought clouds which in turn brought wind and we started sailing again at 17:40 with a nice Southerly Force 4 on the beam.  It’s been steady since.  The clouds obscured the sunset but now it’s clearing again and Russell saw a shooting star.

¾ moon.  Broken cloud. Warm starry night. Wind has been pretty consistent. Boat speed varies from 6.5 to 7.6 knots.  Obviously it would be better if we had a full main sail.

12:00

Another bright sunny day. A couple of hours ago Steve and Russell tried unsuccessfully to set the spinnaker but the wind angle was wrong and there wasn’t much of it. While messing around with it we had a bite but by the time Steve got to the line, the fish had gone.  Yesterday we had a bite and the fish took the whole lure.

About 11:00 we started motoring again which was handy as it was almost time to run the generator. We’ve motored 6 ½ hours out of the last 24 and covered 172 miles. Suwarrow is another 350 miles so we should arrive Sunday.

Today’s pictures are from our short stopover at Maupiti the other day.  In one of them you can see Bora Bora in the distance.
