21/3/08  12:00 Noon

We woke with the highest barometer we’ve seen in weeks.  The Gods having their little joke sprinkled on us while we were striking shore lines and weighing anchor but soon after that we had a sunny morning.  This place is of course transformed by the sun and it is especially beautiful as we are traversing up some narrow waterways with names like Canal Escape en route to Puerto Eden, population 280.

15:00

We’re anchored in this tiny little port, after a 44 mile voyage which was scenic and sunny. We meet a Dutch boat we saw in Ushuaia and the first thing they say to us was hasn’t the weather been “wonderful.”

Pictures today: The first couple of Isla Rosa, then the trip to Puerto Eden.  You will note there are piles of mussel shells everywhere.  There is a face in the rock which reminds me of one of Demetri’s caricatures. The sign in town on the boardwalk which is actually the Ring Road:  Caletá means “cove:  “Malaca” means?????
