I wanted to visit Bird Island the sandy strip we saw the other day just outside of Yanuca.

We set off but the wind and sea were too much to actually anchor and land there so we cut across the lagoon to Bega (pronounced Benga) into a very well protected deep bay. The Lonely Plant led me to believe there was a resort in the bay but it turned out to be a village and as we didn’t have any kava we anchored off and didn’t go ashore. Local fisherman passed by and offered 2 large lobsters for FJD 50 (about £15) but as we didn’t have a pot big enough to cook them and they didn’t want to bargain, we passed. They sped off in the direction of the Resorts where I’m sure they’ll get their price.

Tomorrow we’ll go to Pacific Harbour on the mainland as Demetri is doing another shark dive on Thursday.
