A mile and a bit to port we pass the North bound NORFOLK TRADER, a 77 meter cargo ship.  Maybe he’s got tomatoes on board; there certainly weren’t any in Norfolk.  By the way Hamish in not only living in his cabin these days, he made lunch.

23/10/08   00:00

No sunset tonight as it was obscured by cloud cover, but it has cleared and we now have a starry night. The wind has gone North and is behind the beam so we have slowed a bit.  Sea Breeze, a catamaran we met in Norfolk left half a day ahead of us.  He has made radio contact and seems worried we might run him down in the night.  I think he’s safe for a while.

10:00

Clouds give way to sun again.  Wind remains just behind the beam North Force 5.

There’s a major low developing SW of us but we should be in the lee of the mainland by the time it hits.

12:00

Wind still behind the beam, NNE Force 5 gusting Force 6, so we’re making good time.  Yesterday’s run was 175 miles and there are 209 left.  The wind should hold but you never really know.  We should be in early Friday afternoon.
