Paolo arrived about six hours late last night just in time for dinner
having missed his connection in Buenos Aires, the journey from Venice took
him 36 hours. He brought the anchor relay set which has been sent to
Venice from England, more spare bulbs for the deck lights which
illuminate the mainsail when furling at night and even managed to find a
replacemet LED Port Navigation light. So everything is working at the
moment, even Mr Rayarine has been quiet since I left the Port Helm
position instruments out of the system and re-organized the NEMA.

Last evening we had Force 10 in the harbour gusting over 60 knots.

Today we did the big provisioning…which took several hours…and we’re still
figuring out where to put everything…

It took a while to work out the new watch system and in case anyone’s
interested, here it is as an atttachment.

Its 3 hours on 4 ½ hours off with someone changing every 90 minutes and
takes 5 days to repeat.

We almost left this morning, but I discovered at the last minute that the
woman here who acts as a logistics coordinator for all the boats has had
experience as a Search and Rescue Coordinator, and as I felt that subject
was the weakest in my permit application, I decided to stay another day in
order to prepare and submit a detailed “Emergency Contingency Plan.” This
has duly gone off and we will definitely leave for Port Williams Wednesday
morning, provided the wind will let us out. There are currently two other
boats rafted up alongside and it’s all a bit tight.

A Mostly French film crew arrived and you couldn’t credit the amount of
gear they are trying to stuff into the boat they’ve chartered. They are
making an IMAX movie on Leopard Seals so I guess they need a bit of kit.

Paolo is lounging on the dock prior to an outing with Nik and Gabriele.
Steve has gone to play golf on the world’s most southern and pretty much
most extreme golf course.
I’m pottering about with my purgatory of paperwork. Hopefully the next
entry will be from Port Williams
