stayed in the port. Vangelis spoke to the “Harbour Master” the night before to
“reserve” a place. We had to
arrive at 10:30 AM and await instructions. He gave us a very good place and minutes
after we had settled in dozens of other yachts entered all vying for space. The show went on for a couple of
hours. One of them picked up our
chain and made such a mess that
Vangelis went on board to sort them out.
I slackened out chain and he jumped in their dinghy and was able to
clear their anchor which was wrapped around our chain. This got a round of applause from the
many lookers on. Anyway it’s quiet now. The fun will start
up again tomorrow morning. The “Harbour Master” is a local character who survives
by helping out and accepting tips. Timberlake was here to greet us and we look
forward to seeing her play. We go back to Spetses on Thursday and this blog
will wind down.
