80 Mile Run

10/6/12 Today the Fuel Gauges started playing up giving all sorts of false readings suggesting all of our fuel must be in the bilge which of course it wasn’t.

That night, Vagelis found a dodgy connection in he back of the panel where the gauges are and that solved the problem.

Weatherwise, this is supposed to be the best time of year to make this trip . However we have had wind consistently against us

Coming up the Dardenelles we encounter a serious counter current and for a while our boat speed drops to 3.7 knots at the sort of revs which would normally give us just over 8 knots. We hug the Southern coast where the current is supposed to be weakest.

I have been battling with the Satellite system known as Fleet Broadband which I used on the last big trip to get weather and send  blogs.  It’s been off since we got back and was turned back on on the 5th. I haven’t been able to connect, although some times the  sat Phone does connect. Many emails later and a factory reset of the main unit followed by a factory reset of the handset, the voice part seems more stable.  I was able to talk to The Stratos Helpline for several long telephone calls why we tried to figure out why it wasn’t working.  The only thing different in the set up from what is was before is a new D-Link Wireless Router.  Almost by accident I discovered the IP address of the Router was the same as the Fleet System and when I changed  the router address  suddenly everything started working. Whew!
