5/5/10   15:00

Still no wind.  We’re motoring with the current and doing 12 knots @ 1800 rpm.

It’s clouded over and we can begin to see rain squalls forming on the radar. We should be out of the Gulf Stream in a couple of hours.

We hooked a good size Dorado earlier but as Graham was trying to gaff it, it managed to slip off the hook and escape.  It’ll be steak for dinner tonight.

We just saw a couple of water spouts a few miles to the west.  They look like tornadoes spinning out of the clouds to the water.Very eerie.

A small plane came to investigate and they disappeared.  We are just North of Jacksonville about 80 miles off shore.

17:30  The wind is NE Force 2  and we are able to sail at seven knots with the current, a few degree off course to the West. If we maintain this speed we’ll be in a little after 7am.

20:00

The wind died away and we had dinner ghosting along at 1-2 knots.  We are now out of the Gulf Stream.I’ve just started the engine after a  decent sunset.  The evening temperature is much cooler than last night.

09:00

We arrived at the Charleston City Marina 8am.  The harbour has a 8 mile approach channel and at 5:00 this morning a very thick blanket of Fog enveloped us.  We crept towards the channel at 3 knots and eventually if lifted.  We were surprised by the number of sports fishing boats which came rocketing through the fog. Total distance covered  418 miles.

I didn’t take many snaps but will attach a few.
