The Vava’u Archipelago in Northern Tonga comprises over 50 islands most of which are uninhabited.  There are over 40 charted anchorages all within a day sail of Neiafu.  It is considered to be a cruising Mecca.  There are Charter companies here but with so many possibilities it doesn’t seem crowded.  Last Thursday they began their first annual  Regatta Week  including  a race yesterday which we didn’t do but came to the full moon party anyway at the position shown above..

Friday we were boat bound as it bucketed down all day.  It did clear in the evening and probably won’t start until tonight.  So between showers we will explore the anchorages for the next 10 days or so.

Not much to report.  Had a snorkle on the way back from the  Full Moon party, but on Sunday night it started raining in earnest, continuing ALL day Monday.  Hopefully it will clear  later today.  This weather is completely wrong this year.  I don’t know what’s going on.

I enclose a couple of snaps taken before it started raining and an  example of an ultimate houseboat conversion.
