15/8/08  20:00

We motored for three hours and got fed up and began sailing slowly.  The moon is almost full and there is a weird mixture of rain squalls and moonlight.  Dinner was a Bonito Tuna caught this afternoon.  Not as good as Yellow Fin but at least very fresh.

At this rate it will be Sunday evening when we arrive.

16/8/08  03:15

Rain squalls still about, but it’s only spitting.  Some lightning. Wind on the beam. Boat speed up a bit so ETA is back to Sunday midday. Sea conditions are mild and I had a reasonable pre watch kip.

05:00

The lightning is pretty spectacular flashing in the clouds. It’s the mega strobe effect, big sheets of light, no forks. Makes my attempts on stage seem pretty puny.

12:00

Grey skies continue. Yesterday we managed 168 miles and there are another 194 to go. Wind has dropped and we’re back on 5 ½ knots boat speed.

I enclose a few shots taken on our way out of Wallis and a dawn du jour.
