10/8/08??19:00

Well it might be tomorrow. We will wait until our arrival in Wallis to worry about the date and time because I think there is another hour at stake.

We lost a second lure to a greedy fish.

The wind continues and the sea is up a bit, it doesn’t bode well for sleeping, but it’s only one night.  I took several shots of the sunset.  It was getting going nicely when is disappeared into a heavy bank on the horizon.  The Dorado wasn’t really enough for two meals. We devoured it. Delicious. Demetra made it irresistible.

11/8/08 06:00 or is it 12/8/08 05:00???

Still making reasonable speed. 36 miles to go. Wind’s gone a bit more Easterly pushing us a few degrees South of track.  Will probably pole out for the last section.

Much to my surprise I actually slept not too badly.

08:00

Poled out now.  Our 24 hour run was 189 miles. Not bad considering we haven’t got a proper mail sail. A little over 20 miles to go. The sun rose out of a band of horizon cloud.  It’s amazing how often dawn and dusk are accompanied by horizon clouds all around and clear skies above.

19:00

We arrived in the pass at 11:00 and spent a couple of hours finding a sheltered anchorage as the main ones are open to the trade winds. Demetra and I hitched a ride into the main town which is about 10 kilometres away.  We checked in with the Gendarmerie who want to see all of us when we check out.  The woman who gave us a lift arranged for us to meet her friend after work at 4:30 for a ride back to the boat.  They were all very sweet and very helpful.  There are no taxis and very few buses if any.  This place is totally untouched by tourism.  We have adjusted to the time being one hour earlier the day one day later.  We are now GMT+12
