The other day we were pondering the fact we hadn’t really seen any dolphins since Chile.  Tonight as we cleared the pass we were joined  by a several very large obviously circus trained dolphins who did barrel rolls in the bow wave and leapt high from the water repeatedly slapping their tails down as they landed making a big splash.  Most unusual and very entertaining.  Unfortunately it was already too dark to film the encounter.  A new crescent moon smiled down upon the dolphins and their antics.

17:30

The new moon sinks slowly on the horizon in front of us turning pale amber and inflating as it drops.

Quiet night poled out. Good for sleeping. Moderate dawn, not too extreme. We’re dead downwind which is East 15 knots.

10:30

We entered the Fakarava pass at 10:15, and as it is well over ½ mile wide there is little problem with the current.   This is a large atoll some 30 x 12 miles.  A medium size airplane landed as we approached.  Demetri will be pleased as there is a dive boat in action. It is a good 7 miles to the town.

By 11:15 we are anchored having logged 143 miles. We are now about 240 miles from Tahiti.
