The sun and the motoring continue.  The fishing lines were simultaneously struck.  My Bonito’s line got tangled with Steve’s. The net result was no Bonito, but that’s okay as we don’t really like Bonito.  So we put one line back.  A couple of hours later we hooked a Dorado and Demetri reeled  it in, but it was so small we all felt sorry for it and let it go, mind you  it would have made one good meal.

The seas are flat enough we are on the third load of laundry and I am having a go with the bread maker.  There is plenty of power to spare under engine.

Another starry night lit by the shrinking moon. The Westerlies increased last night to a point where motoring into it was rapidly becoming less attractive so we began tacking tactics.  This will of course add many miles to our leg but it’s unavoidable as the head winds are likely to be with us for several days.

We have clean laundry just in time as we are now heeling much too much for the washing machine to cope.  My bread was a fiasco; I must not have had the kneading/mixing device engaged properly.  There’s very little to get wrong with a bread machine, but I managed it.

31/5/08 Midday

Tacking to Windward?  In the Pacific? At my age? They must be mad!

This is supposed to be known as the “Milk Run.” Thanks a lot Princess Yachts for putting us in this situation.  We should be experiencing SE trades all the way and would have done so had we been here when we were supposed to be here, even with the first delay it would have been okay, with the second we’re into the season of dominant Westerlies. As least we have a bit of sun.

Yesterday’s run was down to 161 miles.  We are currently 760 miles from Easter Island which is only 140 miles closer than yesterday.  Still it is closer.

We’re going to put the clocks back another hour to GMT- 6.

There are a couple of snaps attached.

1) Sunset two days ago.

2) Demetri decided to give himself a haircut with a beard trimmer resulting in hair everywhere.

3) Laundry line at sea

4) This morning’s dawn.
