Last night Nik came back from the internet with a complete Nautical Almanac good till 2030. He is very determined to see the astro-navigation through.  Both Nicks rushed out to spot a star while the horizon is still available but alas it’s a bit cloudy.

12:00 Noon

We left at 10 or 11 depending on what time it actually is. Great confusion about springing forward or backwards with the Southern Hemisphere time change.  We think we’re now on GMT – 4 hours.

We’re puttering along on a cloudy but dry day.  The Sou Chef is making his first Quiche.  Nick has taken apart the anchor windlass box which is causing trouble and is working out as circuit diagrams to see if he can find where the fault might be.

19:00

Dodging several salmon farms, we’ve arrived at Caleta Mechuque, an Indian name which means “it shakes it off.”  It was a dry grey day.  The 65 miles we ticked off means it is less than  200 miles to Valdivia.  Tomorrow will be a short run to put us in a good position for the last leg.  The further North we go the more there are signs of prosperity.

Tonight’s pictures are all from Puerto Quellón.
