18/3/08  11:30 AM

We left at 9:30 back in the cold wet monochrome world again. It has been raining since last night.  The only good thing to report is that we’ve had a strong current with us adding an extra 1 and sometimes 2 knots to our speed over the ground.  A few minutes ago we switched off the engine and are now sailing at 10 knots with mainsail only and a following wind blowing Force 7 gusting 8 i.e. 40 plus knots.

14:00

At one point we touch 11.2 knots then the wind gets really gusty and variable in direction so we motor again and the wind drops away. The rain however continues.

19:00

We are moored at Puerto Mayne, a very beautiful place in spite of the rain.  The grey mist lasted until about 4 pm and when it began to lift, there were some interesting images.  The wind stayed behind us all day and we had a positive current which must have given us at least 10 free miles. After an hour the wind changed and the grey descended again. We had several dolphin visitations; the best one as we arrived to moor with three show offs who kept leaping out of the water as we manoeuvred.  Nik went ashore with the dinghy to check out shore line placement and the dolphins went mad leaping about the dinghy, the faster he went the more they enjoyed it. I don’t know who was having more fun, Nik or the dolphins.

The daily run was 77 miles.

I enclose the few shots taken today; there were no other camera clicks…..
