We arrived at
Puerto Williams at 18:30
yesterday, went ashore for dinner and several bottles of wine. Without going
into details, Gabriele, Paolo and Steve distinguished themselves no end in the
bar of the old ship Micalvi to
which we are rafted up outside two
other boats. On the way here I
tried to re-calibrate the wind
indicator and upon further
examination we found the Force 10
wind had forced it over sideways in its mounting so instead of pointing up
vertically, it was on its side horizontally. It only took a few minutes to correct
the orientation, we re-calibrated it (which requires driving the boat around in
circles slowly) and now it’s back to normal. Coming in yesterday the bow thruster
didn’t function but we haven’t yet had a chance to look into that issue. My crew
is slowly emerging in various states on hangoverness and when they can listen to
the engine noise without too much pain we’ll be off to
Ushuaia.

Beagle Channel approach and some others which require no
explanation.
