We did our best daily distance so far of 157 NM. Winds were good thru the night and we continued our southwest heading. Today we hoisted the spinnaker pole again and poles out the genoa to provide better sail shape as we turned west. Our goal was to get south of the forecast low wind area. As with all forecasts they can be wrong. Looks like that was the case so we are further south than most other boats. But now it is simple, go west with the trades behind us.

Talked with another boat today that lost it's forestay, the wire from the bow of the boat to the top of the mast. Luckily their mast stayed up and the worked hard to secure halyards in it's place. They are making for the Cape Verdes Island for repairs hopefully. Tough guys to rig up a fix like that at sea.

Still seeing storm petrels ( oceanic bird) every day. Today a shearwater was also seen.

Tonight is left over turkey sandwiches with gravy and stuffing, life is good.

About 2,100 miles to go.

Kind regards
