Ibiza short overview

We spent the day wandering around the old town in the town of Ibiza.  Cloudy day but nice to visit the area without hordes of tourist.  Still enough to keep the stores and restaurants open.  There is a convenient water taxi from the marina to the  old town so simple to get there.

The marina we are at is a upscale place that obviously caters to the party boaters that Ibiza attracts.  Now in the off season almost no boats in here.  There are two other marinas, one filled with local boats and the other subject to the wash from ferries and a foul decaying mud odor.  So this was the right choice except for the new night club in the corner of the marina.  It gets bus loads of people brought in from somewhere and has loud music to match Titos in Palma de Mallorca.

Anyway good place to wait out the stormy weather before heading to Cartagena in the morning.

Cathedral at the top of the old walled city.  Very well kept that competes with some of the nicer towns we have visited in Greece, Montenegro or Croatia.  First founded by the Phonecians it has been an active port ever since.  It location also meant it is along some of the most important trade routes through history.

Looking out over the sea toward Formentera the neighboring island.  This picture was taken from the city wall.  Great protection with the combination of cliffs and walls.
