Back to Brac
43:13.6N 16:26.7E We wanted to get back to Otok Brac and see the rest of the
island. So after a lot on conversations with the Norwegians we left Vis
and set sail in the harbor. Now the wind was not much but at least I wanted
to sail out since we were not on any time constraint. So with Beaufort
Force 3 winds we limped out of the harbor and I figured once we cleared the
land the winds would increase. And they did exactly that for 30
minutes. Then the winds dropped even lower. Our heavy cruising
sails can deal with light winds and lose their shape and therefore any power to
move the boat. So in they came and on with the motor again. Our first stop would be back at U Lucice for a
mooring. We know the place now and figured it is half way to our next
stop so let’s go. Upon arrival it was nearly full with almost all
moorings taken. Actually a surprise to me since that was not the case in
the last visit. We picked up one of the few free moorings and looked
around at the closeness of the other moored boats. Having been here
before helps and I was not really comfortable with the selection. Luckily another boat left in a few minutes, they were here
for a daytime mooring but were not spending the night. So we dropped our
mooring and grabbed the newly vacated one that was further from other boats and
on the edge of the filed giving a bit more privacy. Nice choice and made
a good time to take a swim and a bit of snorkeling. The mooring we selected was owned by the other restaurant in
the cove. Come to find out their charges are 20% higher than the other
for use of the mooring! We had a fun debate with the dingy guy. He
said we are the first real American boat to come to the mooring field. At
that I said that must be why he raised the fees! Still a good spot to grab a restful night. |
