                | 41:28.1N 12:31.5E Left Ostia and made it to Nettuno near Anzio.
Sailed half the way until wind dropped too low to make progress. Then
switched on the motor to make port at a reasonable time.  Simon is fully
equipped for the voyage. Have not have much time to really explore Nettuno
or Anzio but will over the next few days.  Not sure what baseball has to do
with this town but apparently it does. The town sits on a bluff above the bay and has been
around before Roman times.  It is a mixture of new and old but there
appears to be continuous efforts to make improvements.  The marina is being
expanded with a new well designed fuel dock, control tower and acreas of
new pavement.  Two marine stores in the port along with a well equipped
SCUBA shop and other associated marine brokers.  The old town is just up
the bluff with all the supplies that are reasonably needed.  Not a marina for super yachts, probably largest size is
20 meters that can easily meander the zigzag entrance.  Water depth is also
3-3.5 meters We will update with more after we have a chance to
explore the area.  Weather is a bit doggy right now but should clear
later. |
