At last we left the marina.  Weather was poor for a couple of days with rain and a little wind.  But on Monday it was fine to leave the marina and pick up a mooring just a mile away to test out everything before we go further.  In Göcek the large bay is a protected aerea and they have been busy laying mooring buoys around most places.  Unlike other places we have visited these are serious moorings.  I do not know the weight of the anchor blocks but they must be well over several tons.  The lines to the surface are around 25 mm (over an inch).  The tough part is there is no slack above the waterline.  So the usual method of picking up the line with a boat pole and raising onto the deck will not work.  We knew in advance and brought the mooring to the stern swim platform.  There we engaged a line and simply walked it forward.  No issue.  But the poor folks who do not know this will spent a long time trying to get hooked onto it.  In fact we watched a charter boat the prior morning spent at least an hour trying to grab the line from the bow with no success.

Nice quiet night with no issues to deal with so that was good.  This time of year the place is empty and the stars we fantastic now that we were away from the marina lights.
