As mentioned in the last note we decided to stay longer to wait out the windy weather.  Turns out to have been a correct decision.  Over the last three days the wind has averaged about 30 knots in the marina.  Started with heavy thunderstorms and a drop in temperature.  Now we are around 17 C (60’s F).  Luckily the marina is well protected with only a occasional roll from passing ferries four times a day.  It seems the outer wall has a few gaps to allow water circulation and the wakes cause a little roll once they pass through, nothing bad.

There is not much to do in the marina, especially since the season is ending.  The café has three food items, the best is a frozen pizza.  The mini market has some dry goods but it reducing inventory, especially with fresh items.  Need to go into town for supplies.  However the chandler is open and has the normal array of marine supplies.  Also two local dogs come by each day looking for treats or water.  They have their rounds and having the begging down pretty well.

In town of Lavrion most things can be found.  The town was based on the mining operations in the past.  This area was well known for centuries for silver.  There is even a very small museum displaying various mineral rocks (2 Euro per person and it takes about 15 minutes).  Nearby is the archeological museum, again 2 Euros with some statues, local pottery and frieze from the Poseidon temple to the south. 

The center of the town is being upgrade some more.  New paving on the main street as well as nicer shops are being built.  A COOP supermarket helps also.  It is also the harbor for many ferries to the islands.

Today we will head back into town to get more provisions, get our Transit Permit stamped for departure tomorrow and just be able to get off the boat for a while.

With all the free time I cleaned the mussel shells out of the refrigeration lines, not all but better.  The boat was thoroughly washed, now it is salty again from the high winds and spray.  Did get time to put together information for Swiss taxes due after departure, what fun.  And we watched TV at night.  At 9:00 there is usually a American movie in English and some episodes of Lost now that they seemed to stop showing the Nanny on every station.
