We sailed from Savusavu in good easterly winds overnight to Suva arriving after breakfast and anchoring in the murky waters off the yacht club . The week in Savusavu had ben windy with the local ferry nearly foundering when bow doors burst open as she headed out of the reef into heavy seas.
Suva busy, noisy with wonderful market and very cheap asian food . We visited the dentist and had the waterpump on the genset serviced . Finally an afternoon watching fijian rugby at the NZ stadium . Big partisan crowd for national cup final.
Moved to anchor of Novotel in Bay of Islands on sunday . Not impressed, dirty and numerous wrecks .
Monday sailed slowly to Nalumbucca Bay , Beqa . Lovelly long protected bay, deep but flat muddy bottom with good holding . One small dive resort at the entrance but nothing else . Only boat here . Lovely wooded shores lots of butterflies . A few canoes higher up the creek where there is a small village . Will sail west to Denarau tomorrow to avoid strong winds later in the week .
