After 18days tied to the marina in Savusavu it was good to be at sea again on a hot sunny day and sailing south to the isl;and of Makogai . We left early in the morning after saturday's birthday party for the marina owner Robin . Makogai in an old leper colony abandoned when a cure was found for the disease in 1978 . Over a thousand souls lie buried here . It was a beatiful sheltered anchorage but we were in a hurry to leave this morning to be in Suva for my dental appointment on thursday. One other boat came in late afternoon and failed to find the pass in the reef so 'bumped 'over the reef . Peolple in steel boats tend to do this . This morning the water pump failed but fortunately I found the problem and fixed it so we do have drinking water.
