After four days at anchor on North Bimini we had a window for passage of the Gulf Stream over to West Palm Beach in Florida (80Nm).

Planning the crossing we had some help from the Bahamas cruising guide as well as from our different weather apps.

Preferably winds should not exceed 20kts and have no northern component. There’s plenty of traffic so we were happy to have our navigation systems up working again with radar and AIS.

Weather was best for crossing at nighttime so we weighed anchor at sunset heading for West Palm Beach. Once out in the current, seaway was confused and disturbing but not wanting to make landfall in the busy and narrow entrance of West Palm Beach with launched paravanes , we accepted some rolling and discomfort.

After sunrise we saw the skyline of West Palm Beach which was something different than we have been used to, and slightly after lunch  we were tied up in Riviera Beach Marina.

You then immediately have to log in to your CBP ROAM app to report your arrival to Customs and Border Police. Then you wait for permission to go ashore and check in to the USA.
