Back in the Caribbean

Well here we are back in the Caribbean, and Talulah is back in the water.   The time she was ashore in Grenada meant that she needed a lot of cleaning and preparation for the Christmas cruise.   Paul went out in early December and Anette followed on the 20th.

The weather is great, hot, 30 degrees, with a warm wind.   It has rained on occasion – and boy did it rain!  A typical tropical downpour.    But for the most part it has been sunny, hot and dry.   After some of the sailing however, it would have been nice to have a shower to wash the salt spray off the boat.

We made some good friends whilst we were in Grenada, but now we slowly making our way north towards Antigua.   Already we’ve been to Grenada, Carriacou and Tobago Cays, and today (Christmas Day), we are in Bequia having had Christmas Eve with some friends who have sailed here from Europe and others who have just sailed up from Cape Town.   Christmas day will be spent relaxing until the evening when we go ashore for Christmas dinner and more partying!

Yesterday we stopped at Tobago Cays and launched the dinghy to motor the short distance to the reef at the edge of the ocean.   They call the reef ‘Worlds end’, and so it seemed with nothing but ocean around us.   We anchored the dinghy and jumped over the side to swim amongst the fish.   Well it wasn’t 5 minutes before we saw our first shark – oddly enough in the same spot as we saw one earlier this year!    Was it the same one? Who knows, as we decided to swim out of it’s domain and over onto another part of the reef.    The shark decided not to follow……

We’re off further north towards St Lucia tomorrow, and then further on to who knows where the next day………

Attached are some photos of what we’ve been up to…..
