The night before last in Chatham Bay we dragged our anchor - not once but 3 times!   I felt that I needed to be out of the wind so I kept trying to anchor in more or less the same spot.....mistake!!   We moved about 200 metres away and spent a peaceful 'rest-of-the-night'.....albeit in the windiest part of the bay, but we stayed put!

Morning came and we went ashore to explore.   The beach was deserted, and we walked along to a strange and part-built straw hut.   We stood in front of it wondering what it was, until a elderly Rastafarian called Nelson came out and told us it was "some kinda restaurant for de folks from de cruise ships and yachts,.....but still bein' built mon...."    We chatted for some time in the fresh heat of the morning - really about nothing..... except life the universe and everythin'.......before going back out to Talulah, raising the anchor and setting sail.     But Anette and I both know we'll be back - soon!

We left Chatham Bay on Union Island and sailed to Mayreau again as we wanted some "noise and company" for the new year.    We anchored in Saline Bay, (which we're going to rename Mosquito coast on account of the number of them biting there!), on New Year's eve, took the dinghy ashore and walked up the hill to have a couple of cool beers at "Dennis's Hideaway".   It was good, so we booked a table for the evening's New Year's party.    We kind of dressed for New Year - I wore my best flip-flops and Anette wore lipstick! and had a great meal and party at Dennis's before going further up the hill to a "Raster Shack" listening to more Reggae (I'm getting hooked on this now - I love it!) and some drumming before New Year came in.   We celebrated it with a lovely Irish Family who came over the Atlantic on another boat with us and some great islanders - and 70 Italians!!!!!  (How they got there is another story)..  Talk about extremes...it was noisy and great!

We did NOT have hangovers this morning, and set off for Tobago Cays again.   We got there and anchored in turquoise water, had a late breakfast of fresh coconut, papaya, champagne, salmon and scrambled egg and went swimming!!   (talk about excesses - but this is New Year).  The wind was fresh, about 20 to 25 knots, but the holding was excellent in deep soft white sand.    We spent a great afternoon just doing nothing and then went snorkelling on the reef later in day.   It was fantastic!   We saw turtles and swam amongst some of the most colourful fish I have ever seen.   I was surrounded by clouds of silver white fish and it felt like we were flying through their world.......... A fantastic New Year's Day ......
